SERISSA FOETIDA |
I brought home a cutting from the beginners course and tried my hand at growing from a cutting. I used some root hormone, planted it and watered it regularly, but to no avail. No roots grew at all and I threw it out a couple of months later once it was completely dried out. |

3 UNIDENTIFIED TREES |
Remember the 3 unidentified trees that were in the pot with the Mopane? Well, when I repotted the Mopane into the large training pot, I repotted these back into the original pot. They were still alive when I planted them, and I was hoping that they would take so that I could make a small scene. Unfortunately not. I think that they were another casualty of the black frost that hit in August. |

CUTTING WITH INTERESTING TRUNK STRUCTURE |
Sometime during winter my mother-in-law was clearing out her garden. While they were cutting back the ivy around the pool, I claimed some cuttings for the club's lucky draw. While going through the cuttings, I came across this branch which had an interesting shaped trunk and claimed it for myself. Again I used some root hormone, planted it and watered it regularly, but to no avail. I think that maybe the root hormone was a little too old. While at our club show in October I found out about something better to use for cuttings. That is what I will use next time. |
